Hot Springs, North Carolina, a quaint mountain town 35 miles north of Asheville, is named for the hot mineral springs located here. Hot Springs was recently voted the Best Small Mountain Town from Georgia to West Virginia because of its abundant natural resources and welcoming, friendly people. Located on the French Broad River Valley and surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest and the 3500-foot Appalachian Mountains, Hot Springs is the only North Carolina town where the Appalachian Trail Town runs right through downtown.
Hot Springs, NC has been a popular destination getaway since the hot mineral springs were discover here in 1792, later flourishing when the railroad came in 1882. The town has a rich and unique history and has been the subject of several history books and novels.
