One of the most beautiful mountain farms (380 acres) in North Carolina, established by a land-grant from the State of North Carolina to Layten Davis' great grandfather, the farm will be open in the spring of 2004 for tours and demonstrations. The tours will include an agricultural crops garden which has the major crops grown in the area, a self-guided, one mile nature trail (trees and other flora identified) beside Sugar Camp Creek. The property has gorgeous waterfalls, a mountain farm equipment museum, with antique farm equipment dating back to the 1850's. They display the antiques and offer presentations at selected times during the year in an historic farm building, recently renovated as the museum. Topics presented vary from Beef Cattle raising to Burley Tobacco farming. Tractor wagon rides are offered for kids of all ages through rich woodlands and pastures and over two miles of hiking trails (old logging roads) through the mountain forests on the farm. Mountain bikers and Horseback riders will want to contact the Davis's for special trail rides. A Farm Centre building (1908 square feet) with ADA accessible facilities, including restrooms will be made available for special events in 2004.
